When it comes to individual Assets, you can create different types of assets and design custom fields for them.
To manage your asset types,
- Click the Assets & RMM tab. If you do not see that tab, go to Customers Customer Modules Assets Manager.
- In the upper right, click Actions Manage Asset Types. Alternatively, you can also get here from the New Asset screen by clicking Modify Asset Types.
This takes you to the Asset Types page. We include several by default; feel free to modify them.
Here is what you can do on this page.
- Add a new asset type. Enter the Asset Type Name and click Create Asset Type.
You can then click Manage Fields beside it to customize it.
- Click to rename the asset type.
- Customize the fields you track for each kind of asset.
- Clone or Delete the asset type. Cloning duplicates an asset type that retains all custom fields, allowing you to quickly create variants.
- The Syncro Device cannot be deleted, as it is used when adding assets on which you will install an RMM agent. But you can click Manage Fields to add additional fields to the included ones.
Manage Asset Fields
Each asset type comes with two default system fields that cannot be rearranged or deleted: Asset Name and Asset Serial. Syncro Devices come with several more system fields that can be rearranged by not deleted. Beyond that, you can add as many additional fields to an asset type as desired.
- Add a New Field.
- Click to toggle between Required/Not Required.
- Edit the selected field.
- Click the X to delete the field.
- Reorder the non-system fields with the "hamburger" icon.
Add or Edit a Field
- Click New Field.
-
Name the field.
- Select the Field type: Text Field, Check Box, Drop Down, Web Link, Text Area, Date Field, Popup or Scribble.
- For Drop Down, click Add Answer, then fill in the Dropdown Entry and repeat as needed.
- Check the Required checkbox if desired.
- Click Create Asset field or Update Asset field.
